Sir,

I read the recent report on varicocoelectomy in adolescents with a great interest. [1] Moreira-Pinto et al. compared between laparoscopic (LV) vs open high-ligation technique and found that "LV seems more efficient than open high ligation technique in the treatment of adolescents' varicocoeles." [1] This finding is interesting. A recent meta-analysis result showed that "results after laparoscopic varicocelectomy are comparable to other surgical procedures." [2] Indeed, Moreira-Pinto et al. already recognised for some problems of this work, especially for the limitation in the number of subjects. The retrospective study results in inability to control the confounding factors. There might be bias in case selection for LV. Another thing for following up is the rate of recurrence. Nevertheless, there should be a comparative analysis on the cost effectiveness of both techniques.
