HISTORY
PAPSA was founded in 1994. The following meetings were held to
date: 1994: Nairobi Inaugural Conference, in association with the World
Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgery (WOFAPS).
1996: Cairo, in association with the Egyptian Paediatric
Surgical Association (EPSA).
1998: Cape Town, in assoc'n with the South African
Association of Paediatric Surgeons (SAAPS)
2000: Abidjan – cancelled.
2002: Cairo, in association with the European African
Pediatric Surgical Conference and the BENHA Children’s Hospital
annual conference.
2004: Blantyre, in association with SIOPS.
2005: Alexandria, in association with the Egyptian Paediatric
Surgical Association (EPSA). 2006: Mombasa, in association with the Kenyan Association of
Paediatric Surgeons (KAPS). AIMS AND SCOPE The Pan-African Paediatric Surgical Association (PAPSA) is an
organization with the following aims:
- to promote the practice, education, research and the
advancement of surgery in Africa;
- to promote and maintain high clinical and ethical standards
in pediatric surgical practice;
- to foster the development of paediatric surgery in Africa;
- to evaluate and foster goal-directed research; and
- to hold general scientific meetings.
